Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Shoptician collects and why. It says who receives the data and what you control. It covers the website, the app, our emails and the share links you create. Our Terms of Service apply alongside it.
In short
- Shoptician only reads your Google data. It never changes your ad accounts.
- We never sell your data. We never use Google user data for advertising or marketing emails.
- Nobody at Shoptician looks at your Google data unless you ask us to, or for security or legal reasons.
- You can export your data, disconnect Google or delete your account in Settings at any time.
1. Who we are
Shoptician is operated by Denis Kabakov, known as Dan Kabakov. He is an individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia (the country). He trades as Online Labs. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean him as the operator of Shoptician.
We are the controller of the personal data this policy describes, with one exception. Your connected accounts may hold personal data about other people, such as the emails of other users of a Google Ads account. For that data we act as your processor, under section 12 of our Terms of Service. For any privacy question or request, email hello@shoptician.com.
2. Who this policy covers
Shoptician is a tool for businesses, such as store owners, marketers and agencies. The people who use it act for a business. This policy covers their personal data. It also covers personal data inside the accounts they connect. One example is the email addresses of users who can access a Google Ads account.
3. What Shoptician does
Shoptician audits Google Ads accounts for ecommerce stores. You connect your Google account. The app reads your data, runs its checks and shows you a report. It never changes your accounts.
4. Data we collect
- Account data. Your email address and your role, which you must give us. The role says whether you run your own store or manage ads for others. You may also add your name and company.
- Business profile. One per Google Ads account. Site URL, feed URL, vertical, brand terms, competitor domains, shipping countries, main language, store type, catalog size, order value, ROAS goal, ad spend, gross margin, monthly store orders and peak months. Only what you type in.
- Google data. What we read from Google Ads, Merchant Center and GA4 after you connect them. Section 6 lists it in full.
- Audit results. Scores, findings, written summaries, your self-check answers and the share links you create.
- Usage events. Signup, verification, connections and completed runs, with timestamps. Also which shoptician.com link brought you, if any.
- Email choices. If you agree to marketing emails, when you agreed and the exact words you saw. Also when you opt out.
- Review requests. When you send a report to Dan, we store which report, when, the link and the sentence you agreed to.
- Messages. What you write when you email us.
- Technical data. Cloudflare, our host, receives your IP address and basic browser details with every request. The app also uses your IP address to limit how many sign-in codes one network can request.
You need an email address and a role to use Shoptician. Everything else is optional. Some tools need certain details or connections. Without them those tools stay locked.
5. How we use data and why
We use personal data only for the purposes below. The legal bases come from the EU and UK GDPR. Georgian law has similar grounds.
- To provide the service. Sign you in, run audits, store reports and make share links. Let you export or delete your data. Basis: our contract with you or your business, and our legitimate interest in giving you the service you asked for.
- To send service emails. Sign-in codes, notices about your account and messages about your own results. Basis: our contract and our legitimate interests.
- To keep Shoptician secure. Rate limits, abuse checks and fixing errors. Basis: our legitimate interests and any legal duty to protect data.
- To improve Shoptician. Usage events, the link that brought you and the internal statistics in section 13. Basis: our legitimate interests.
- To give you the free review. Only after you click to send a report. Basis: your consent.
- To send marketing emails. Only if you opted in. Basis: your consent.
- To meet legal duties. Answer lawful requests, keep required records and defend legal claims. Basis: legal obligations and our legitimate interests.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed them against your rights. The data involved is limited and mostly about business accounts. These are uses you would expect from a tool like this. You can object at any time, as section 19 explains.
6. Google user data
This section covers data we receive through Google APIs. Google calls it Google user data.
What we read
- Google Ads data. Account settings and the names and IDs of the accounts your Google login can see. Campaigns, budgets, bids and bid strategies. Targeting such as locations, languages, schedules, devices and audiences. Conversion actions and conversion counts. Up to 90 days of performance numbers. Search terms, keywords and quality scores. Negative keyword lists. Ads and assets, such as headlines, descriptions, sitelinks and video titles. Audience list names and sizes, never the people in them. Product and landing page results. Change history for budgets, keywords and targeting over the last 30 days. Experiments, manager links and linked Merchant Center accounts.
- Google Ads user list. The app reads the emails of the people who can access your Ads account. It uses them for one check: does an admin have an email on your store's domain. It keeps only counts, whether that match exists and the part before the @ of shared inboxes like info@. Full emails are not stored.
- Merchant Center data. Only if you connect it. The list of your accounts and their account issues. For each product: ID, title, price, availability, status and item issues.
- GA4 data. Only if you connect it. The list of your properties. Counts of add to cart, checkout, purchase and lead events by channel. No data about individual visitors.
- Google account check. When you connect Google, the app makes one call to Google's user info service to confirm the connection works. It does not keep the answer.
How we access it
- Google Ads. Google has one scope for the Google Ads API. That scope allows read and write access. This app only sends read requests. It never creates, edits, pauses or deletes anything.
- Merchant Center. Google has no read-only scope for it. The scope we ask for allows read and write. Shoptician only reads.
- GA4. Read-only scope.
We ask for Merchant Center and GA4 access only when you choose to connect them.
Why we use it
We use Google user data only to provide and improve the audit features you see in the app. That means reading your accounts, running checks, writing summaries and showing your reports.
Where we store it
Reports and account lists are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Google access tokens are stored in Cloudflare Workers KV, apart from your reports. Tokens never enter the database. Cloudflare encrypts both stores at rest with AES-256. Data travels over HTTPS between your browser, Shoptician and our providers. Numbers for the overview page are cached for up to 30 minutes.
Who processes it
Only these providers receive Google user data. Each one gets it only to run a feature you use.
- Cloudflare hosts and stores it.
- Anthropic receives check results to write the summary.
- SerpAPI receives your top 3 search terms when you run Competitor Shopping.
- Google PageSpeed Insights receives your top 3 landing page addresses.
- Brevo, HubSpot and our business mailbox receive the details in section 7, only when you ask for the free review.
When a person sees it
Nobody at Shoptician reads your Google user data unless one of these applies:
- You agree first. Sending a report to Dan, as section 7 describes, is one way to agree. Asking us by email to look at something is another.
- It is needed for security, such as investigating abuse or a bug.
- The law requires it.
People you give a share link to can also see that report. Section 14 explains share links.
What we never do
- We never sell Google user data.
- We never use or transfer it for advertising. That includes retargeting and personalized or interest-based ads.
- We never use it for marketing emails or to choose who gets one.
- We never transfer it to ad platforms, data brokers or information resellers.
- We never use it to judge creditworthiness or for lending.
- We never use it to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine learning models.
Limited Use
Shoptician's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting and deleting
When you disconnect Google in Settings, we ask Google to revoke our access. We delete the stored tokens and your lists of connected accounts right away. Reports you already have stay in your account until you delete it. You can also ask us by email to delete specific reports. When you delete your account, we delete it from the app, as sections 17 and 18 explain. You can also remove our access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. If you do, the app deletes its stored token the next time it tries to use it.
7. Free review by Dan
A report page has a button: "Send my report to Dan for a free review". Next to it is this sentence: "I agree that Dan Kabakov can see this report, keep my details in his CRM and email me about it." Nothing is sent until you click it. When you click it:
- A read-only share link is made for that one report. You can revoke it any time in Settings.
- Dan gets one email through Brevo. It holds your email, name, role, company, the account name, the result band, the account's Google Ads spend over the last 30 days, the top 3 failed checks and the link.
- We store your agreement: which report, when, the link and the exact sentence.
- The same details go to Online Labs' HubSpot account as a contact, a company and a deal, so Dan can follow up. For the company record we use your store's domain from the business profile, or your work email domain.
- Dan may email you about that report. He sees nothing else.
Send a report about a client's account only if that client has agreed. You can withdraw your agreement at any time by emailing hello@shoptician.com. We then delete the review details we hold, unless the law requires us to keep them.
8. AI features
- Written summaries. Anthropic's Claude writes the plain summary of each report. It receives the check results with their details. Those can include campaign names, keyword and search term text, audience list names, conversion numbers, spend, Merchant Center issue titles and GA4 event counts. For some tools it also receives your store domain or Merchant Center ID.
- AI Visibility. This tool asks AI assistants a shopping question built from your homepage. Claude answers it. OpenAI, Google Gemini and Perplexity can answer it too, but they are off during the beta. We will update this page before we turn any of them on. If Gemini is on, it also receives your homepage address, title, headings and up to about 7,000 characters of its visible text. No Google Ads data goes to OpenAI, Gemini or Perplexity.
- No training. Anthropic's commercial terms do not let it train its models on what we send. We do not use your data to train AI models.
- Accuracy. AI text can be wrong or incomplete. Check it before you act on it.
9. Service providers and what each receives
We use these providers to run Shoptician. Each one handles data under its own terms and data processing terms. Each one gets only what its task needs.
- Cloudflare. Hosting, the database, token storage and email routing for our address. At signup the domain of your email address goes to Cloudflare's DNS service to check that it receives mail. Cloudflare is based in the United States and runs a global network.
- Brevo. Sends your sign-in codes and our other emails to you. It receives your email address and the content of each email. It also sends the free review email to Dan, only when you ask for it. Brevo is based in France.
- HubSpot. Only when you ask for the free review. It receives your email, name, role, company, store domain, the account name, the result band, the 30 day ad spend, the top 3 failed checks and the share link. HubSpot is based in the United States.
- Anthropic. Writes the summary of each report and answers the AI Visibility question. It receives what section 8 describes. Anthropic is based in the United States.
- OpenAI, Google Gemini and Perplexity. Only for AI Visibility. They are off during the beta. If we turn one on, it receives what section 8 describes. All three are based in the United States.
- SerpAPI. Only for Competitor Shopping. It receives your top 3 search terms by spend and runs them as Google Shopping searches. SerpAPI is based in the United States.
- Google. Google APIs send us your account data. Google PageSpeed Insights receives the addresses of your top 3 landing pages to test their speed. Google Fonts loads the fonts on our pages and sees your IP address when they load. On shoptician.com nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Then the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and YouTube may set its own cookies. Our business mailbox runs on Google Workspace. Google is based in the United States.
Emails you send us and the free review email are kept in our business mailbox.
10. Pages we load from your store
To check tags, consent, speed, trust signals and links, the app loads public pages directly:
- Your homepage and your top 3 landing pages by spend. The user agent is a mobile Chrome browser on Android.
- Your Google Tag Manager container script, when your page uses one.
- Up to 6 sitelink addresses, to see if they work.
- For AI Visibility: your site address with a desktop Chrome user agent and again with the GPTBot user agent, plus robots.txt and llms.txt with the user agent ShopticianBot.
- For Feed Health: your product feed URL with a Googlebot user agent.
These pages are public. We keep only what the checks need, such as the tags found and the test results.
11. What stays in your browser
- Local storage keeps your sign-in session id, your theme choice and the Google Ads account you last picked. Session storage keeps a short id of the shoptician.com link you came from, until you sign in or close the tab.
- While you connect Google, a short sign-in cookie proves the connection started in your browser. It lasts at most 10 minutes.
- Shoptician sets no tracking or advertising cookies. The items above are our own and are not shared with anyone.
- Signing out ends your session on our side. You can clear local storage in your browser settings at any time.
12. Emails from us
We send sign-in codes. We may also email you about your results or about Online Labs services. Online Labs is the business behind Shoptician.
- Service emails. Sign-in codes, notices about your account or our terms and messages about your own results. They are part of the service, not marketing.
- Marketing emails. Google Ads tips and Online Labs offers. We do not send them during the beta. Before we send any, we will ask for your consent with an optional box that starts unticked. We will store your choice, the time and the exact wording.
- Opting out. Every marketing email will name us as the sender and carry an unsubscribe link. You can also email hello@shoptician.com at any time. We stop as soon as we can, and always within 7 working days.
- No Google data. Marketing emails never use Google user data. They use only your email address and your account details, such as your name.
Opting out of marketing does not stop service emails. Those continue while you have an account.
13. Anonymous statistics
We may combine results across many audits into statistics. Examples are how often a check passes or the median score by spend band. We use them only inside Shoptician, to improve the checks and the app. Each figure comes from at least 50 accounts. It never names you, your store, your account or your campaigns. No single account can be picked out of it. Accounts that Online Labs manages for its own clients are left out. Nobody reads a single report to make these figures. We do not publish statistics built from Google user data.
14. Other sharing
- Share links. A share link lets anyone with the link read one report. It does not show your other reports. You can revoke it any time. Treat a link like the report itself.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose data when the law requires it. For other personal data we may also do so to protect our rights, our users or the public. Google user data is disclosed only when the law requires it or for security. We disclose only what is needed.
- Business transfer. If Shoptician or Online Labs is sold, merged or reorganized, your data may pass to the new owner under this policy. Google user data moves only after you give explicit consent, as Google requires.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
15. International transfers
We operate from Georgia. Our providers process data in the United States, the European Union and other countries where they run servers. Cloudflare serves pages from data centers near you.
When data leaves the EU, the UK or Georgia, we rely on the safeguards each provider offers. These include the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, the UK addendum and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where a provider uses them. If Georgian law ever requires your consent for a transfer, we will ask for it first. You can ask us for details of these safeguards.
16. Security
- Data travels over HTTPS.
- Cloudflare encrypts the database and the token store at rest with AES-256.
- Google tokens are kept apart from your reports and never enter the database.
- Sign-in codes are random, work once and expire after 15 minutes. Five wrong codes lock the email for 15 minutes.
- Your session id travels only in a request header, never in a web address.
- Our logs record errors and status codes. We work to keep account data out of them.
- Access to our systems is limited to the people who run Shoptician.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will notify the competent authority within 72 hours where the law requires it. In Georgia that is the State Audit Office. We will also tell you without undue delay where the law requires it.
17. How long we keep data
- Your account, business profiles, reports, answers, share links, review requests and usage events stay until you delete your account.
- Google tokens and your lists of connected accounts stay until you disconnect Google or delete your account.
- Cached account numbers expire after 30 minutes.
- Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. Signing out ends a session at once.
- Sign-in codes work once and expire after 15 minutes.
- A pending Google connection expires after 10 minutes.
- Rate limit counters tied to you expire within 24 hours. The counter tied to your IP address expires after 1 hour.
- Your marketing choice stays with your account. If you opt out, we may keep your email on a suppression list so you get no more marketing.
- Free review details sent to HubSpot stay there after you delete your account in the app. Email hello@shoptician.com and we delete them. The same goes for the review email in our mailbox.
- Emails you send us stay in our mailbox as long as we need them for support and business records.
- Cloudflare keeps restore points of the database for up to 30 days. Data you delete leaves the app right away. It can stay in those restore points for up to 30 more days, then it is gone.
We may delete data sooner, for example if the beta ends. If we do, we will tell you first so you can export it. This does not apply when we close an account for abuse, security or legal reasons.
18. Your controls
- Export. Settings, then Data and privacy, then Export my data. You get a JSON file with your account, business profiles, reports and other records. Google tokens are left out for security.
- Disconnect Google. Asks Google to revoke our access and deletes the stored tokens and account lists. You can also remove access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Remove one account. Takes one Google Ads account off your list. It comes back if the list is refreshed from Google. It does not revoke access at Google. Its past reports stay until you delete your account.
- Revoke share links. From the report or from Settings.
- Marketing emails. If you agreed to them, use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or email us.
- Delete your account. Settings, then Data and privacy, then Delete my account. It asks Google to revoke our access. It deletes your profile, business profiles, reports, answers, share links, review requests, events, tokens and sessions in the app right away. Restore points follow within 30 days.
You can also email hello@shoptician.com to ask for access, correction or deletion.
19. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have these rights over your personal data:
- Access. Get a copy of your data.
- Rectification. Have wrong data corrected.
- Erasure. Have your data deleted.
- Restriction. Ask us to limit how we use it.
- Portability. Get your data in a machine-readable format. The export in Settings does this.
- Objection. Object to uses based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdrawal of consent. Withdraw consent at any time, for marketing or the free review. This does not affect what we did before.
Direct marketing. You can object to direct marketing at any time, free of charge and without giving a reason. We will then stop.
To use a right, email hello@shoptician.com from your account email. We may ask you to confirm who you are. We answer without undue delay and within the time the law sets. Under the GDPR that is one month.
Complaints. You can complain to a data protection authority. In the EU, the EEA or the UK, that is the authority where you live or work. In Georgia it is the State Audit Office of Georgia. We would like to hear from you first, so we can try to fix the problem.
20. Automated decisions
Shoptician scores ad accounts automatically. A score is about an ad account, not about you as a person. It has no legal or similarly significant effect on you. We make no automated decisions about you in the sense of Article 22 of the GDPR.
21. Children
Shoptician is for businesses. It is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete the account.
22. Changes to this policy
We will post changes on this page and update the date above. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies to you. We will not use Google user data in a new way without asking for your consent first.
23. Contact
Questions or requests: hello@shoptician.com. Operator: Denis (Dan) Kabakov, individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia, trading as Online Labs.
